Having just spent the last 4 days of last week deliberating on a jury for a murder charge and not being able to come to a verdict (hung jury, so we were discharged and a retrial is required  ), I can attest that none of the 3 things can work if people don't want them to ....

This thread is pointless, confusing and highly upsetting. The sooner Chris quits it with such infuriating and delibertely baited posts as these the better!

I had a similar thing last year. Spend 9 days stuck in the jury room / court only to have a hung jury. Never went to re-trial, we think he took a plea-bargain before it went to re-trial. (It's the only explanation that made sense according to the court person I phoned asking when the re-trial was.)

...and yes I agree. This proved to me that some people just can't be budged from their wrong opinion! :D

Damn right, a bloke's gotta have a hobby.

However, this raises the philosophical issue of whether differences of opinion between the voices in ones head actually constitute an argument...

Of course it does!
Consider this, two (or more!) voices in your head is like 2 (or more) people in a room!
Your head is just another 'room' where a conversation can take place.

More than 2? Must be lots of spare space in your scone...
TBH, if we are going to wax philosophical. Methinks it might be time to get Socrates' mum involved. :?

This isn't an argument, it's just a contradiction.
