I dunno Jules, this is Tour of Bright afterall  . You'll be racing against at least one Masters C rider that's doing 1:20s flat up Hotham, the amount of training I see on Strava for this Tour is truly impressive.

Good luck to all racing, had an awesome time riding around there a week ago. Racing up those hills just ain't for me.

ToB is sand bag heaven - no rules as to where you can race. Don't give any respect to riders sand bagging though.

I don't get the sandbagging. If you are an A grader where's the sense of achievement winning C grade?

Less sandbagging, more just playing by the rules. Once you have a CV grade it's my understanding that's what you race until you build up enough points for a promotion. In this case it's just a rider thats improved an awful lot over the last year.

personally, i don't get upset about (alleged) sandbagging. i enjoy riding against higher std cyclists. some people take it personally but it's just a bit of fun. i will enjoy myself :)

ToB is one of those events that unless your right at the top of A-B grade you wont win in B or C. Masters C has been just as fast in previous years as C grade. But that's not really why I go, its a challenge I love racing, ToB is like a Tour de France for amateurs, with timing, starting ramps, it's really well put on, the racing is hard, sprint points, go and make a break away if you want. It has everything.
FYI Aiming for top 20 in the TT, and getting to Tawonga with the main group. I will lose time on Tawonga and Hotham.

Last year got smoked in the Sprint Eliminator by a World Champ :)

Put a dinner plate cassette on my wheels. 12-28, will test it tomorrow before heading down to Bright on Thursday.

Don't feel too bad. I run a 32T cog on the rear and use it pretty often.

last race before ToB today.

Out of curiosity taking multiple sets of wheels and bikes? At present on the car (happens to be a HSV GTS) we have 4 bikes and 6 pairs of spare wheels including discs, two rollers, plus helmets etc etc. Logistics' are wonderful!

Few kilos more than I'd like, the wrong side of 80, probably 81-82 depend when I weigh myself!

Making more power than expected though... but I don't expect to challenge on the long climbs, I see myself as a Puncheur/rouleur rather than a climber or sprinter!

I'll be taking one bike, two sets of wheels and some tools and spares, plan on possibly using a friends TT bike.
