I decided to purchase a Garmin 510 which I am happy with so far except for one thing......
It does not seem to have the ability to display average speed during a ride?? I can see the average speed once the data has been uploaded but not it does not show while riding.
I am missing something or is that right? Would love to hear from any users.

Have you customised the page views?
Mine shows average speed, it an option in there to display.

No I haven't, guess I had better break out the instruction book!!GTPilot wrote:Have you customised the page views?

The quick start manual that came in the box does not mention customising the the page view so I will download the manual. (should have thought of that I guess)
Thank you.

I bought a 510 a few months ago, and because there is a massive amount of useful and not so useful info you can program into the page views, I run two main pages. One with current speed and heart rate etc nice and big, and one with the unnecessary distractions like average speed, gradient, temp etc. If I'm curious, I'll just quickly flip over and check one of those items and flip it back.

I have a "Current" screen and a "Historical" screen.
My "Current" screen has instantaneous speed, gradient, heart rate, cadence, distance, etc.. and is my main screen.
Then my "Historical" is the Avg of the same parameters, which I look maybe once or twice during a ride, say at a coffee stop or at the start/end.
Finally, an "Others" screen, like all other misc fields that might be useful but rarely use for anything...ie. temp, heart zone etc..

Hmm...Thought I responded to this.
I finally worked out how to set up the pages and have set up with all the info that I like to see on two pages that i scroll through.
Thanks to all.
