No problem with the voting system apart from the AEC "losing" 1300 votes in WA, no identity checks, the use of pencils, group tickets and no optional above the line preferencing.
They used pens for the NSW Election for the first time, and preferences above the line were optional. Also optional for the lower house.
Still no ID checks though.

I know but these changes have not been made for Federal elections.

Leyonholm isn't trying to fight changes to pencil and paper, or the identity checks, and raising them is a bit of a red herring... he is against changes to the preferences process, and while it is self interest, I don't see a problem with this being the case. Our nation was effectively robbed when Gillard won government, and we were robbed by ridiculous preference deals when Abbott won as well.... let the electorate decide if they like the current system or not at the ballot box next time. We vote according to a sliding scale, many swinging voters would change their vote if the scale was changed. First past the post is completely different to our system and it would change how many people voted.

Our system isn't perfect, and it won't be.

Leyonholm got you hook, line and sinker :) . That's not what is proposed.
Read the report (particularly Appendix D)- not the utter drivel he is spouting. The interim report is particularly illuminating - if anyone "stole" an election it was Leyonholm and Co.

Not at all. Haven't read a word he said beyond what is quoted in this thread. I have given up on trying to improve the system, The people using it are the reason it does not work. Humanity is incapable of perfect governance, and a bloke like Leyonholm is feedback that we must try harder. He will resist the changes. They are in his interest. No surprise there.
