Peeled off to where?Hergest wrote:I drove past it about an hour ago, it didn't look too bad in that it appears to be a concrete section underneath and the bitumen layer has peeled off. If that's the case then an overnight work crew could lay some new bitumen without too much strife once the rain stops.

IMO the shoulder at that point is way cleaner than usual and than I expected. Most of the debris must have been blown or washed away.ed933 wrote:The weather has calmed down, but there is lots of debris, especially wet leaves and branches, on the eastbound shoulder from Pennant Hills Road. The yellow hard hat has been there for weeks now. They clearly don't do much sweeping.ed933 wrote:The weather has calmed down, but there is lots of debris, especially wet leaves and branches, on the eastbound shoulder from Pennant Hills Road. Careful out there!

I agree, the situation wasn't particularly bad immediately after Pennant Hills road. What I meant to say is that the shoulder was rather nasty at around the Brown's Waterhole exit. This was at about 8:20 this morning.Boognoss wrote:IMO the shoulder at that point is way cleaner than usual and than I expected. Talking about Brown's Waterhole, a workmate told tried to cycle in through there from South Turramurra on Tuesday. 'Tried' being the key word there.. The creek was flooded about 1.5m above the path's surface!

That fits with the survey I did on Wednesday afternoon on the way home. You could see the debris in the trees at that height.ed933 wrote:I agree, the situation wasn't particularly bad immediately after Pennant Hills road. My yellow hard hat checkpoint is gone.....nooooooo!am50em wrote:It appears the small part of the M2 where I ride has been swept in last 24 hrs. I noticed that the broken wood chunks and other debris just past the Norfolk tunnel has gone (finally after more than a month).

Saw the cops speaking to the driver and cyclist.
Cyclist was on his feet so I'm hoping he's ok. A car was parked on the hatched lines between the exit and M2.
I can only suspect that there might've been some sort of contact when the car belatedly exited M2 whilst the cyclist was crossing to continue on westbound.
Stay safe guys.

Also beware of a short patch of grooved road near pennant hills.

Not sure if this is both Westbound & Eastbound, or just Eastbound. We have been advised we are losing access to the M2 between Pennant Hills Road and Windsor Road for 4 years starting in August.

It was unclear as the works mostly involve the control centre and portal on the Northwest corner of the intersection. Not sure how it is going to affect my access to/from the M2 as I use PHR between the M2 and Castle Hill Rd, and that is going to have a lot of construction.rogan wrote:Almost certainly both directions. The design calls for major roadworks on both sides of the M2.

You are f****ing kidding. What a joke. The bike lane has only been open for what, 6 months? My standard Sunday arvo training ride is Nth Syd to Castle Hill and I'm just about to start a commute from Naremburn to Plumpton down the M2 and M7. It's bloody hard to find another way to do those km wholly in a bike lane.

Basically, adding a 3rd lane from PHR to Windsor Rd Westbound (should have done that during the upgrade already!), starting late this year. So, there goes cyclist access West of PHR for Westbound users. My understanding is that Transurban has given additional information to Bike North, and the end result is you should enjoy the M2 between PHR and Windsor Rd while it lasts, because you'll be back to the "yet to be determined detour", which I am almost 100% certain will be the same crappy detour they had for the M2 Upgrade itself.
Even those of us exiting at PHR and heading North will have to deal with the fact that the entire Western side of PHR up to Eaton Rd will be one huge construction zone, and I suspect the existing shared path on that side will vanish. It is unclear if they will widen the Eastern side along the Golf Course.
