I thought I would ask the BNA brains trust this one. Not cycling related; I want a small but relatively powerful light to take with me when walking the dogs so I can see to pick up their doo doo, and key into the lock when I get home.
I have tried several little bike lights but the first time I drop them, they break open and are useless.
So, must be sturdy, must be small, needs to fit on a keyring, and preferably rechargeable. Battery life not such an issue, as I will only be using it for brief periods of time
I was quite taken with this:
A MecArmy X1S
Any thoughts, or other suggestions?
What's the best keyring light?

Normally can't go wrong with a Maglite https://www.ledtorchshop.com.au/maglite ... black.html

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I looked at the maglite, but discounted it as too long.
The Nitecore looks interesting. Have you bought from Zapals before?

I was going to suggest the nitecore tube too. it's excellent. (Beware of fakes that are too cheap, even though genuine ones are already cheap, they are still counterfeited, eg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjX8S2G1Czc.)
There are plenty on au ebay shipping from AU for ~$13 delivered, eg:

Also recommend the nitecore, I use one of their spotlights and they're excellent. 2 of the 3 brands I'd recommend have been mentioned, the other is led lenser if the size meets your requirements https://ledlenser.com.au/collections/fl ... hain-light

Jaycar used to do a little solar keychain light made by Gama Sonic, but I don't think they do any more. I once ordered about 1000 of 'em direct from Gama Sonic with our company logo to give away in PNG, they were about $3 each. If you want to be popular in a third world country give somebody a reliable solar torch! They are dreaming though if they think they are worth $19 https://gamasonic.com/product/solar-pow ... -keychain/

I have purchased from them about 4 times. Never had any problems although the postage time is funny (about a month). I have purchased maybe 40 of these nitecore t (for gifts for people , funnily enough) ... I purchased them slightly cheaper on ebay once but I suspect they were fake (they didnt cycle through the two modes like the others did and had issues recharging).redsonic wrote:Thanks for the suggestions guys. The nitecore has an auto cut off circuit for recharging so you dont have to worry about overjuicing the lithium battery.

I have several AAA battery key chain type lights. I use Sanyo Eneloop rechargables. I can recommend the Olight i3s and Thrunight Ti3. Both have multi-level outputs and a priced around $25. The Thrunight has 120 lumens at high level. It is one of the brightest AAA lights. Olight also make a 90 lumen single output light for around $15. At these high outputs you have around 30 minutes burn.

Thanks for the suggestions all. I ended up buying a Nitecore Tube from Zapals. I will let you know what I think when it arrives.
