"emergency pick ups" : A brisbane story

Postby winona_rider » Thu Dec 11, 2008 11:52 pm

As you all know we had what appeared to be a massive storm descending on us in Brisbane today and my GF and I were meeting a friend for dinner at southbank and as we waited for Mel to arrive a few cyclists sheltered from the storm under cover just outside where we were sitting.

And one was an attractive young woman in full cycling regalia and I assumed she was just sitting the storm out. But then about 15 minutes later suddenly a car arrived and an equally good-looking boyfriend emerged and he jumped out and they hugged and kissed and you all would have shed a tear - like maybe i would have done if I wasn't so composed and awesome. It was art. Like maybe a french 60's truffaut movie.

And so I turned to my GF and said, "Wow! How cool is that? I wished you greeted me with such enthusiasm when I needed rescuing."

She was non-plussed. I think she said, "I bet he didn't have to drive as far as I have to".

Sigh.

At least you didn't have to then go on to tell her which Hospital she should meet the ambulance at!

Lets see telling the other half which hospital I was going to, Check done that.

As for being scared of storms that is my other half who walks the 5 ks home. My normal response "get the bl***y Bus"
