But seriously - I have been fairly happy with the standard mount and stability. An alternative could be mount that attaches to the saddle rails and gives you a 'go pro' style mount. With a Garmin style adapter it would be a solution... however I think space may be an issue because it won't be able to angle up... then if you add an extender, it is yet another bit where flex is introduced and you may introduce wobble.

The best bit about my VIRB was the cradle mount, which meant the camera could snap on and off in 1 second, but was firmly held in place. That was a saddle rail mount. The shape of the Fly6 means this won’t work, but the seatpost mount is perfect. If it works, I’ll do a second mount on my other bike so I can easily move the camera between bikes.
The velcro mount makes the camera jitter. It doesn’t move around the post, but it bounces enough to make the video footage unusable.

$50 aint cheap though.
So i picked up a china copy for $10
Then filed it down to suit, added a lick of paint
The cyclic adapter now dosnt foul the mount, and i can angle it correctly.

My Fly6v has died and need a replacement rear camera. I've read on BNA and elsewhere that the CE's have had reliability and moisture issues. These are getting cheaper, around $200. Would people recommend these, or better to rig up a rear facing GoPro?
Will also post this question on the other BNA review thread so apologies for the duplicate question.
Thanks

Perhaps the integrated light, the footage protection options, and ease of use make the fly6CE appealing over a general action cam but you have to weigh it up against your budget and requirements.

Quick, Aldi might have some rear bike cameras left. They went on sale today.march83 wrote:Ugh, my second fly 6ce has died. Light drizzle this morning and the lens is completely fogged.

My 3rd warranty replacement 6CE in less than 12 months randomly turned off on me twice last night.march83 wrote:Ugh, my second fly 6ce has died. Light drizzle this morning and the lens is completely fogged.

From my side, the replacement Fly6CE has been fine though not in active use for about 4 months as I am just on the MTB or commuter or vintage bike or home-trainer).
I do top-up charges occasionally so preserve the battery but over the many months of riding the replacement Fly6CE, I never had a single wet ride which was surprising. (On the MTB, it is like every ride is wet).

There is something not right with the 6CE in my opinion.
Although I had my old 2nd Gen replaced once under warranty, the 2nd one lasted 24+ months before I changed to the 6CE (there was nothing wrong with it, other than the battery deteriorating).
I recall the warranty process being much quicker with the old Fly6 too. Now it takes multiple emails, delayed responses, and repetitive testing.

Warranty times are slower I believe due to how their system works with Amazon.dmwill wrote:I know of at least 8 others who have have multiple replacements of their 6CE's in the past year.

That's just the dispatch and delivery of the replacement though. I'm talking about the process of raising a support case, waiting upto 48hrs for a response, then continual emails back and fourth.Lukeyboy wrote:

Coming from a technical background myself, I'm going to have done all the troubleshooting already. I outline this when I raise the support case, but having done a few claims now, I can see they just run off a script.

Despite the Aldi camera not proving to be up to scratch, it gave me a taste of having a rear camera.
Pushys has a light discount code at the moment and the Fly 6 CE can be had for $178.49
The good thing is that Pushys are excellent to deal with if you have a warranty issue, so decided to go for it.

My FL6CE has just died.
Turns on and the bezel light does its thing, sometimes the tailight comes on, sometimes not.
Records for a couple of seconds then the footage is frozen.
Go to turn off and nothing happens, let it sit for 10 or 15 seconds and the bezel light turns off.
Raised a ticket with Cycliq and will see what happens.

Whenever my second gen does this (? the black and red version but not the latest one) it's often because the SD card has failed to automatically delete old footage. I remove the card, wipe the video folder, reinsert and power the camera off and on. It's the main annoying fault of my camera and comes up a few times a year, which is why I ride with a second rear light on my saddlebag for backup.Arbuckle23 wrote:Well my luck with faulty purchases goes on.
