Not Secure

Why does this site say, it is an unsecured site? :?

Using Chrome? It's not https and/or maybe the certificate has run out and Chrome has heart attacks with that.

Don't put your bank details here and ignore :)

Any websites that have entry fields but don't 'force' SSL are now being labeled with an insecure warning.

This site has SSL however it is not 'forced' and it is probably a change I need to make now which will mean that all traffic is SSL encrypted. The two things to note is that this site doesn't collect and process private details as a bank would do... and SSL is fairly secure in what it does but when there are other vulnerabilities (at either end) then it can still be susceptible.

In short, a beat up to "encourage" site owners to abandon their own servers and move to the (google or microsoft or amazon owned) cloud.

Not really... most hosts are providing options.

The reality however is that it is easier for the bigger players to react and harder for the small ones and creative types who get penalised.

I will test and should be able to switch over soon... so thanks for highlighting this.

Cheers

I don’t currently have any hosting for the distance / elevation goal images. Not sure if they’ll cause a mixed content hissy fit or not :-)

A technical change has been initiated... and if all goes to plan it was nicely switch to 'forced' SSL.

Essentially the URL will always have https instead of http. Lets see.

Yes, seems a really smooth change, no longer get that silly message from Firefox about the site being insecure.

I mean, really, it is a cycling forum, not like I'm sharing my banking details or anything.

I know... and to think what I had to learn to make the change (techy stuff). Painful really, but as long as my cycling buddies are happy :)

You may notice that the "Not Secure" is appearing again and I have worked out why... and established a more permanent fix.. but need to implement and test.

This SSL jazz has been a real odyssey... have been continually active and despite following every single manual and guide there is... a permanent solution is still elusive. The journey continues....
