Masks when riding in Melbourne (13 June)??

Postby al_in_sth_america » Sun Jun 13, 2021 10:57 pm

Hi guys,

Heading down to MEL from SYD late next week and trying to figure out what the movement restrictions are. Have checked the VIC gov covid site and understand 25km radius rule. It also says masks must be worn inside and outside. Question: does this include when riding your bike? Not very practical. :-(
Cheers

Hi Al,
https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/sport-and-exercise wrote:...
-You must wear a fitted face mask indoors and outdoors (except at private residences), unless an exception applies.

-You do not need to wear a face mask if exercising strenuously such as running.
Keep looking at the websites, because the restrictions do change regularly.

At the moment the rules say that you don't need to wear a face mask if exercising strenuously. (note the use of the present tense). This means that when stationary, even if only briefly you need to have a mask on. I find that it is easiest to wear a neck gaiter, and to pull it up as necessary.

Cheers,

Cameron

No, not while out riding.

If you stop at shops, then yes.
