Yes, that’s not a mudguard, it’s a very long fork crown. (The “fork” is the horizontal bit - split down the middle and lain down )

He had replace the parts to flat bar and from road to mtb gearings and maybe wheels too....

Might had bought it from http://m.buy-bike.net/sale/2018-cell-sh ... mes-658/au

And it was advertised on koala tree for $299.99 less than from fleabay.
https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bateman ... 1296499699 and he did removed the Dura Ace gruppo and flog it off for $900.
ID please? What ID? My seat tube ID is 27.2mm or 31.6mm depending on what bikes I ride today.thanks...

Even in its original condition $1,300 is way above what its worth, let alone with mtb bars and Deore running gear.

Hmmm - in its original state, it might be worth a grand or two, or as a frame alone maybe 300, but going to be very tough to sell it now it's been unsacrilegiously carved up. Perhaps they don't see the irony/silliness of what they've done ? The wheels are good, and free postage (!) from W.A., maybe someone will bite.

I went looking on web.archive.org for the original Cell Ad, but couldn't find anything.

Bargain. If I didn't have one, I'd be all over it. Two wheelsets and floor pump? This is "git 'r gone" pricing.

I picked up a Fondriest FZ4 last night for a mere $200, because it was listed on FB marketplace as "Road bike", with a single photo of it hanging upside down from the shed rafters. I've always wanted a Fondriest (and a Bottecchia, please and thank you) but sadly when I got it home to the measuring tape it's only 54cm. At least with a quick scrub and new bar tape I'll be able to flip it for some pocket money, but I'd much rather it be the right size so I could keep it :(

Never seen this before. Avant blade is normally a hybrid bike. This one has road kit and carbon stays with mtb brake bosses somehow.

Yep that started off as a Blade Pro and they've swapped out the flat bar for drops. My guess (based on the lack of bar tape) is they got to that point and realised road brake levers aren't going to work well with mtb type V brakes. Swap them for cantis or mini Vs and you'd be good to go, if there's room for 32mm or wider tyres you've got a decent allrounder.

OK.. I bought that bike. It has a decent ding in the top tube, but blow me down, it rides perfectly. Its a genuine triple, 105 3x mech and shifters. Long cage rear mech, triple 5600 cranks. Straight wheels - just 1 shirted tyre. Dual sided pedals.. All bearings seem good. Stopping power seems ok. Selle Trans Am seat even! Frame looks clunky, but it's not terrible heavy 9.6kg. Stem looks around 30mm/40mm Max.

I'll either strip it, or put proper gravel tyres on it.
It took me over 6 months to sell the last damaged frame I had. :(

The carbon seat stays have a very funky lay-up /mold to accommodate the brake lugs. Carbon seatpost seems to have a loose fork/steerer collar on it!

The guy I bought it from was selling it from the street, laugh, in front of some apartments (out back of some shops) he may or may not live in.

Maybe the (missing) bar tape was just too much to do.

OK... It's a double st-5601 shifter. So might be hard to make it work on the triple cranks??

Such a shame to bin it.. It'll take 35s or 40mm tyres I'd guess. These stays are amazing.

The double shifter will work fine on the triple cranks, just not for all of the chainrings. In fact my son is using that setup with his training/TT bike. I took the big ring off and put on short chainring bolts and he is using a 30/39 combination to comply with his gear restrictions.

Cheers,

Cameron

Geez Avanti make/made some bikes. Here's a reasonable $500 ISP roadie

I'm never going ISP though I think. Some reports that they're just too stiff. And imho old Av are mostly hit with the ugly stick too. :P

Yeah, I think you're right about the brakes. They pull a lot of cable, and with bartape on, it's gunna be close. Hmmm - Might send this one to the dismantlers.
