Yes, that’s not a mudguard, it’s a very long fork crown. (The “fork” is the horizontal bit - split down the middle and lain down )

Might had bought it from http://m.buy-bike.net/sale/2018-cell-sh ... mes-658/au
And it was advertised on koala tree for $299.99 less than from fleabay.
https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bateman ... 1296499699 and he did removed the Dura Ace gruppo and flog it off for $900.

I went looking on web.archive.org for the original Cell Ad, but couldn't find anything.

Bargain. If I didn't have one, I'd be all over it. Two wheelsets and floor pump? This is "git 'r gone" pricing.P!N20 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 25, 2022 10:48 pmLitespeed built Eddy Merckx titanium road bike: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/st-clai ... 1298761039

Yep that started off as a Blade Pro and they've swapped out the flat bar for drops. My guess (based on the lack of bar tape) is they got to that point and realised road brake levers aren't going to work well with mtb type V brakes. Swap them for cantis or mini Vs and you'd be good to go, if there's room for 32mm or wider tyres you've got a decent allrounder.stevenaaus wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 3:44 pmNever seen this before. Avanti blade is normally a hybrid bike. This one has road kit and carbon stays with mtb brake bosses somehow.

I'll either strip it, or put proper gravel tyres on it.
It took me over 6 months to sell the last damaged frame I had.
The carbon seat stays have a very funky lay-up /mold to accommodate the brake lugs. Carbon seatpost seems to have a loose fork/steerer collar on it!
The guy I bought it from was selling it from the street, laugh, in front of some apartments (out back of some shops) he may or may not live in.
Maybe the (missing) bar tape was just too much to do.

Such a shame to bin it.. It'll take 35s or 40mm tyres I'd guess. These stays are amazing.

Geez Avanti make/made some bikes. Here's a reasonable $500 ISP roadie
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 596830868/
I'm never going ISP though I think. Some reports that they're just too stiff. And imho old Av are mostly hit with the ugly stick too.

Yeah, I think you're right about the brakes. They pull a lot of cable, and with bartape on, it's gunna be close. Hmmm - Might send this one to the dismantlers.ldrcycles wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 11:05 amMy guess (based on the lack of bar tape) is they got to that point and realised road brake levers aren't going to work well with mtb type V brakes.
