For the marketpkace sales, an advantage of the restrictions is usually better quality (sellers) and less spam and commercial sellers, but also thos means there are less sale items.
A question for the community, do you feel a change should be made? Would like to get views and weigh these up with moderators (who are the invisible but valued forum members who keep it running smoothly).
Feel free to vote and share your views.

Much prefer quality over quantity. Sure, there might be a few more tasty morsels if the rules are relaxed, but I don't want to have to rummage through a skip bin full of smelly rotting garbage to find them.
The biggest concern is that itpotentially almost certainly opens the door to scammers. I don't think any of us wants that heartache.

Being an enthusiast's group, I think the members here are savvy enough to find what they want from a wide range of different sources and the members here usually post up links if they've made a discovery of something out there in the marketplace and often form a discussion of such.
I was once a moderator/ admin on a forum similar to this one and we had allowed a number of vendors to advertise, and it became a dog's breakfast to the point where it destroyed the forum, I don't want that here.
So, unless we need advertising or if advertisers will pay to help with the cost of running this forum, I say keep it as it is.
Cheers

I'm with keeping it as is.
Opening up the floodgates will only create issues (additional time to moderate) and also there are enough scammers on other sites, another platform is not required.
Doing a great job already

Keep it as it is, we already have people sneaking in the forum putting stealthy links to whatever product they are pushing.
It's nice to have a refuge away from scammers.

Thanks for this, appreciate the input.
The advertisers for that would be peanuts and hard work, better would be the general advertising and engagement from bigger Australian importers / distributers and retailers
