Hi
We (2 people, 2 bikes, 1 tent) plan a cycle tour in Australia and will visit some Parks on our way (e.g. Otway, Grampians, Flingers Ranges, Macdonnell Ranges, Litchfield).
Now we found out that campgrounds mostly need to be booked in advanced, which is often not possible when travelling by bike.
How are your experiences with spontanous camping in those Parks as cyclists? Is it possible to spontanously get sites? If a campground is full, how strict are the rangers in terms of free-canping of cyclists in National Parks?
Kind Regards
Ela

It will vary depending on location, how busy things are, and on the whim of the Rangers.
There seem to be lots of bookings that never show up. Probably people who have booked it, just in case, and then plans change etc. So finding a spot will likely not be an issue. Some areas they go around and check your booking. I've never heard of them actually kicking anyone out, but it is possible.
For clarity, I haven't used any those specific parks recently, so talking about other locations
