Thanks to moderter Mikesbytes who let me know of performance degradation in the forums. Apologies for the longer than expected time that posting was disabled.
For these disruptions, it can be tricky to decipher the source and cause, in this case it was 'flooding' by a malicious scraper. What that means is that both legitimate and also criminal 'services' copy the forum content. Usually (but not always) the legitimate ones try and do this at a steady and acceptable rate while bad ones slam the site eventually overload it until it stops working.
In practice we have some mechanisms in place though in practice they still manage to degrade performance, ruin it for genuine members and visitors and cost money (hosting).
Thanks for your patience, hopefully we can get a bit of peace for a while.

Thank you. I was a bit confused yesterday because other people were apparently replying to threads. Glad it is resolved.

I found that when you selected a thread the maintenance message would come up. However if you then refreshed the page the thread was visible. This was on my android tablet.AdelaidePeter wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2023 1:49 pmThank you. I was a bit confused yesterday because other people were apparently replying to threads. Glad it is resolved.
Same process to reply.
