Said forum member here and yes I can ride it, heck I rode it around the court on the weekend but you are correct, there isn’t much wall space.

I would have replied to this cheap shot earlier but after 5 minutes on it I needed chiro, physio and osteo, the pain killing drugs and muscle relaxants have now worn off so I can let you know it’s a lovely thing, if you have a 50m commute.

I rode one of those for a bit more than 50m a few years back. It was fun. It really wanted to be ridden fast was my impression.

Hi all!

Can anyone help determine (if possible) the year of manufacture of this frame? It's a Shogun Trailbraker 3. I'm thinking between 1989 and/or 1990 but I'm unsure. It'd be greatly appreciated if anyone could help me determine the year or point me in the right direction so I can check. Here's the serial number on the bb: M9JI56031. Thank you!

...so I believe it’s a 1990 model. It’s missing the wheels, which seem to be 700c - I tried a 26” set which was too small.

I have a GroundBreaker too. I think mine is an early-mid-'90s judging by the components. Started out with a full Shimano LX groups with cantis front & rear. Has 700C wheels although I believe at some point the GroundBreaker name was used for a 26" wheeled bike. I've rebuilt the front wheel with an Alfine dyno hub. Currently has a set of Deore thumbs - can't recall if they were original or if I installed them (I prefer thumb shifters).

Mine is full butted cromo, original white paint, moderately sloping TT & quite light weight with touring eyelets on the dropouts & fork (only 2 bottle cages though). Nice bike but a little small for me at 17.5" C-T. I may sell this, either complete or as a frame set...

I've been contemplating my too-small-for-me white Shogun Groundbreaker. It's a fantastic 700C bike made with relatively lightweight Tange MTB tubing. Fully set up with all the braze-ons you'd want for touring or gravel use (except for a 3rd water bottle mount) & I've read somewhere that it'll fit 45mm tyres!

Unfortunately I've been riding it & have realised that I really need a bigger frame - probably one that's around 50-53cm C-T - the one I have is about 45cm C-T (sloping TT) so probably best called a 'medium'.

I'd happily swap the frame I have for a larger one if anyone in SA has one that's too big for them. Alternatively I'd certainly be interested in buying a larger GB frame if anyone has one (or even a complete bike) sitting unused in the shed... ta, Sam.
