June 2024 Forum Winner : warthog1
Postby AUbicycles » Mon Jul 15, 2024 4:58 pm
Each month, a forum member will be selected as a winner and will receive an Orange Wipes Bike Cleaner Set from our forum sponsor Unpass.
Congratulations warthog1 - forum winner for June 2024.
This thread caught my eye "Cycling computer through the wash" and long-standing forum member warthog1 was the victim of his own forgetfulness as the Garmin 1030 went in the washing machine which is described as "Not my greatest moment". Forum members were quickly on the scene with tips to try and save it. But could it be saved?
In any case some luck has been on your side and with the bike (and gear) cleaning wipes from unpass, it is an alternative to the washing machine.

Australian Cycling Forums Monthly Winner
The monthly winner will be selected from the forum members and for practicality should reside in Australia. This is not a competition, there is no entry, rather I will select winner each month who catches my attention. Perhaps they have posted something insightful, they have assisted others with a great answer or does something positive. Feel free to send me a private message to suggest a worthy member and let me know why.
Bonus points to winners who then post a picture of their bike after being cleaned!

Well deserved.....at least you were game enough to admit your unfortunate mistake Warty.....I think your honesty was noticed.....just remember to take off the Garmin before using your new wipes

It doesn't go inside in the jersey pocket anymore.

I'll put up a photo of the clean pride and joy after using the wipes. Will be sure to clean the Garmin with them too.
Though the washing machine did do a good job.

Got those wipes in the mail the other day
Bike was a bit dirty as the roads have been wet here lately.
The wipes are fairly damp and it seemed to take a while for the surface to dry.
I noticed the wipes came withba microfibre buffing cloth.
Decided to actually read the brief instructions.
Yep, use the microfibre cloth to buff the surface whilst still damp.
Yeah that worked well!
Nice and shiny. Good stuff.
(No chain on there as I decided to put a rewaxed chain on after changing the cassette to a new one I ordered)

This sounds a bit dodgy to me.

Yup, buffing with the towel is also something I recommend.
