New Plank Bridge Road Sign

Postby WyvernRH » Wed Oct 02, 2024 2:52 pm

This road sign has been appearing on the approaches to the old 'inline' plank bridges in the Williams and Hunter areas recently.
Very graphic! :P
I suppose warning you that they are crap is easier than fixing the problem.

Legally speaking that's very interesting.

'We know there's a problem. But rather than fix the problem we're putting up a permanent sign to tell you there's a problem'.

A personal injury lawyer would love that!

I have heard of some races putting temporary mats across the plank bridges in previous times.   I think that was pretty ineffective as well. I wasn't the comm on those races. I would have kicked up a stink about that scenario anyway.

Pick a plank bridges are bad. Fortunately I don't have any where I normally ride, even further away.

I ride one on the gravel bike occaisionally. It is quite good though and 40c tyres aren't bothered by it

I’ve seen a similar graphic used for tram tracks

Likewise, but there's a distinct difference between "necessary infrastructure" tram tracks and "we couldn't be arsed changing it" bridge plank orientation.

Totally agree, just noting the origin of the graphic.
