Surprisingly good! With those chunky tyres it’s 8.6kg. Spins up v.fast on the road but that’s prob due to light wheels. So with some Conti 5000 30mm it’ll be even lighter. If you can do it, definitely get two sets of wheels and then you have one bike to rule them all.

I have a giant revolt with GRX 11s and 48/32 chainrings.
I have 2 sets of wheels and I got rid of the horridly wide bars it came with. After so many road bike ks I have gone very close to that position. With 50mm carbon wheels 28f and 30r tyres it is very close to the TCR I also have in speed. In top gear with the road wheels (48-11) 60kmh is cadence 110. On a fast bunch ride you might be spinning a bit at times but by myself the gearing is more than enough.

I won't get myself tangled up in talk about wheelsets. Saw last week some SCHMOLKE carbon wheel sets (rims only!! ) for more than $6,000 in CCACHE, with warnings that only very skilled and experienced wheelbuilders should touch them!

I needed a strong coffee after those two revelations...

EXACTLY what I have done ! A roadie set with 35mm Conti GP Urban and then the Gravelo set with 45mm Pirelli Gravel H.

Works brilliantly !

Nice one @michaelB. I went with Pirelli Cinturato M (AT) 45mm. Then Conti GP5000 30mm for road setup. Working well.

How is the ride on these frames, read some people saying its a bit harsh, and toe overlap problems.
Either of you noticed this.
I see they have a new gravel v frame out, it has me interested.
Thanks

It’s not a harsh ride at all. Toe overlap isn’t an issue at all. I guess it could be if you got a too small frame size!

I do have some toe overlap, particularly on the bigger gravel tyres, but I also have the cleat as rearward as possible, which creates some of the issue. Hasn't had an impact other than scuffing the toe of the show occasionally.

Given the bigger volume tyres, ride is fine and handles Groadie duty well.

Thanks for replying, do you run same cassettes on both sets of wheels?

Looking at replacing my busted commuter with a wish list of disc brakes. wider tyres & not aluminium frame & remembered this thread. Would you go this way again Michael?

Yep. Over 6,000km without any issue.

Only minor gripe is the toe overlap with how I’ve placed my cleats (rearward) but that’s it

I’m still loving mine. But a top tip… make sure you put some thread locker on this bolt. Mine worked itself loose and fell out during the end of my Spanish desert gravel adventure. Luckily it was at the end of the last ride but the whole rear derailleur was hanging off!

Well, as per this thread, https://www.bicycles.net.au/forums/view ... p?t=108767, the ICAN will soon be stripped of running gear and a new All-Road bike will be born.

I'll start a thread on the Argon18 Dark Matter frame that was purchased from Farceberk and is being delivered today !!

The ICAN XGravel frame will be up for sale if anyone is interested in a bargain commuter/gravel frame

Can you give an update on the source of the headset noise when strip down the Ican?

I can, but after the TdU ride, even think it might be my imagination, as added some stuff to the small frame bag and didn't hear anything, but will double check for sure. Might have been the CO2 cyl clanking a bit even though they are in a placcy bag
