This time at the prestigious Gree Tour of Guangxi (2.UWT). 6 Stages covering 1,021km but no major climbs.
He's finished the 1st stage in 109th (or 128 riders) and lost a measly 19 seconds, so in a good position .....
Stage 2 is a bit tougher with 181km and a shade over 2,100m elevation gain

Looking at this morning's story

I reckon there's some serious sandbagging going on here.

At least he made the break !!fat and old wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 7:05 amHe's going hard! 115th of 128 riders, only 12:08 down! He can make that up on the first MTF!!! Not only is he in a solid position for a surprise raid on GC, but atm he's in front of all bar one of the Chinese no-name team. Not to mention Federov, Jakobsen and MANNY BUCHMANN!!!!!!!!

Maybe strategic sandbagging at the end to do a miraculous recovery and snatch it ...
That CN article must've be hard to write, through the tears of laughter and constant eye rolling ....

He was in the break until 40km to go when the road hit the dizzying steepness of 3.3% & yes he lost 12 minutes in that 40 km.
Cracked the top 100 today

AND didn't lose any time !!!!
Also improved 5 places on GC and now only 10 spots to go to get to 99th .....
And from the road.cc article
“Froome could ride his Pinarello from 2015 and he still wouldn’t crack top 20 in Tour du Rwanda with his current level.”
To be fair, the Chicken was right – Froome only managed 27th overall in Rwanda this year…"
Ouch, but true

There must be some other story other than Froome?
I don't suppose the journos writing these articles would like to try and ride better?

Given the results, the coverage is understandable.

This is probably some of the same.
But I would expect the naysayer journalists to show what talent they have before going on their rants. Fine if it's a former pro rider with real expertise, but if it's some pencil pushing writer, no. That's why I'm not joining the rants.

The pile on I was joining was giving him heaps for the delusional press releases about how he was going to win an event or even be competitive & the moron publishers who would give these oxygen.

What a complete waste of money from the teams' perspective.

Managed to maintain his overall slot at 110th on GC by finishing 113th, some 13:27 down.
