I got about 2 hours riding done this morning (I'm on leave). It threatened to rain but only a couple of drops.

I wouldn't get away with that, we have people who spend time watching the online status of everyone all day and are quick to jump on those who aren't "active". :|
It's not a matter of getting away with anything. I punch in when I start working and punch out when I take the break. After the ride I'll punch back in again. We work a 35 hour week with flexi time, so all that matters is we work for 35 hours for the week. While riding I'll be showing as offline so they know I won't be working.

Count yourself lucky, it definitely wouldn't be allowed where I am, even though there is talk of "flexible". And it would be used by the return-to-office people to champion the return to office so they can spend all day watching over everyone. Already some folks are mandated to by full time back in the office, the rest is at least 3 days permanently in the office, and probably going back to full time in the end.

Not so much luck - it was a conscious choice after more than 40 years of busting my 🫏 in the corporate world. For work/life balance reasons at my age a 35 hour public sector job is a very pleasant change given the nice working conditions and benefits, and the location means I can easily ride to work as well. We are allowed to WFH two days per week. Long service leave after 5 years is also something to look forward to. Even though the remuneration is a little bit less than the private sector, money's not everything. I certainly don't miss working seven days a week and answering the phone in the middle of the night!

The weather is again poor. There are dry areas but rain rolling through so even if you tried to ride outside you'd get rained on badly.

And it poured down after midnight - the rain was extremely heavy. Indoor ride only today unfortunately. It's better than sitting around feeling bad and getting unfit.

I manage 2.5 hrs ride with the occasional light drizzle. Very hit and miss with the showers at the moment.

I got lucky with the morning shopping: all the way to Mascot and back without a drop. Pretty damn sticky though!

Must have been something on at the airport. Heap of plane spotters on the bridge over Alexandria Canal as I was heading out, and none coming back,.

Might be dangerous conditions riding this morning after that huge storm last night:

Looks like more rain coming in from the south around Picton. Sigh…

Edit: very wet. :(

Blowing a gale this morning and the apparent temperature was 12.5 degrees. Lots of tree branches down.

It is gale force here out west too, I didn't bother going outside to ride.

I will hopefully do so tomorrow but will be very careful given all the mess after that huge storm will still be everywhere.

Just went out in car to shops and lots of large trees branches down from 2 days ago. The intersection out of our street still blocked in one direction by fallen branches on power lines. Power went out on Wed, 15 Jan, 8:40pm and still out according to Ausgrid website. The large multi trunk tree took out the power at least two times before in last few years with large branches breaking. If I were one of the 20+ household affected I would want it completely gone.
Two streets up a householder was chainsawing downed branches and the NBN cable running along the street was hanging down within a meter of the ground. So they cannot access their driveway.
Looking at map appears to be over 50 pockets of power outages Ausgrid is responsible for. Nearly 300 households without power within 500m of our home.

I can see the sun, there is blue sky and the wind has dropped, but I am not going out. I know the weather gods are laying a trap.

You were smart, because the sun was shining and it was pouring down this afternoon.

Dry this morning so 73.5km and 836m+ done.

A lot of debris around and one or two downed trees.

Yesterday was hell with the wind. riding not quite so bad but holding the 'bent up when stopped was difficult! Glad I'm on the low seat one, the Encore would have been impossible with some of those gusts.

(I'd have taken the trike...)
