More expensive than you want, but satisfaction remains after price is forgotten.

Prob too exxy though :(

Dunno about 1x personally but I guess you can get a seat tube clamp for the FD?
Yeah, I looked at them too, but I already have a "proper steel" roadie, and these were well over $3k for F&F before delivery.

It seems that anything coming from OS is stupid shipping cost.
Not just that but the the Aus dollar was trading at * US61.8c, and as low as 61.3c yesterday.
Maybe best wait a few weeks till the traders dump the usd when the orange monster takes control of the circus tent.

My guess is the currency traders are looking on drooling at the gift horse to buy and sell positions knowing things that are normally unknown.
So while your timing is not good for o/s stuff the rest of the worlds currencies are also floundering just on the short term(?) strength of the usd. This should settle soonish
(* US69c in October so down about 12pc in 14 weeks / date of us election? About 10 weeks ago)

The other option is a Chinese *** Carbon frame, and found this one (and there are plenty of threads around about it), and like some of the small details like the internal routing and Di2 position switch (albeit it's not planned to be a Di2 bike ...)

https://airwolfcarbonbike.com/product/y ... 4-56-58cm/

Ticks most of the boxes, and probably would not use their bars/stem (sell them off and use mine).

USD $805 shipped (A$1,350) , so fits the price bill. 8)

*** Yeah I know, I'm normally against the PRC, but that is on a data basis and money sometimes rules .....

I'd avoid Airwolf, quite a few people had issues in this thread on Chinertown on their YFR066 (basically an Aspero copy):

http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4109.0.html

Plenty of interesting China frames out there but I wouldn't go with that one.

Some interesting options, with the Jimmy V2 being the standout, but no price.
Their designs are very similar to the Seaboard steel frames seen on aliexpress.

Just messaged him with some Q's -

Apparently bang on 10kg as it sits (not bad), and he's willing to sell without some bits (for me, e.g. wheelset and some of the groupset etc) as the plan is to transfer bits over.

Hmmmm :)

Waltly would be high on my list to look at. Also maybe a Ritchey Outback, it's in your price but is kind of heavy and is a gravel bike

https://www.dirtworksb2b.com.au/frameset-gravel
Yes, it looks like a good fit, but the Ritchey Montebello (Radonneur) is probably the best option from them, but at $2,974, breaks that criteria. But still something to consider.

One that may work is the Norco Search XR Steel (and some Carbon options) - some framesets available under $2k (Reynolds 725 tubing) ....

Others that will have worked but broke the budget option were :
Argon18 Dark Matter - over $3k
Mason Resolution 3 but at $3.5k before shipping rules it right out, but T47 BB
Just stumbled across an Argon18 Dark Matter frameset in my size ...... 8) Apparently only 1,000km of road, but not quite the right size for the owner.
Some geo checking to be done .....

Auren aren't that expensive, sub $5k. Pretty sure they do the design and fit in Australia and the manufacturing overseas by the likes of Waltly.

Fair enough, but anything over $2k really for an F&F is too much for me. Yes, I paid more for the Llewellyn, but that is a artisan frame.

The aforementioned Argon18 frame is looking promising though ....

Note, only looking at a lightly used F&F with headset, stem and bars

Basically swap most stuff over from the current ICAN bike - 11sp Shimano

EDIT : Groupset swap - 11sp Mechanical Shimano Ultegra Disc. Hope RX4 Calipers, DT Swiss G1800 Wheelset + GP Urban 35C tyres, Prologo Scratch M5 PAS saddle (was Kappa Evo).

May use the Zipp bars that come with the bike & seatpost, but need to fiddle with stem length and saetpost offset to get the Stack & Reach right.

Will setup a new build thread (like the others), as this will be the 1st bike with FULL internal plumbing (through FSA ACR headset.

All looks very awesome, especially for that price.

Will be watching for interest for inspiration. After actually holding a solo breakaway to the end of an event on Sunday I feel the need to do a carbon gravel racer now.

I suspect I'd easily get away with a 105 Di2 groupset for BVRT events because they're not exactly technical, though a SRAM 1X setup also has appeal.

What would be the need for a 1x setup, apart from following the 1x trend.

The whole 1x trend seems to have stalled a bit. I can understand the appeal, but one downside is the gear jumps (some care, some don't) but as I'll be swapping over the running gear, I'll stick with the 2x.

The Dark Matter has a removeable FD hanger and can run both.

Did some pre-ordering of some new bits that are required for the swap :
- brake hoses
- gear cables & housing
- BB : went the Token Ninja thread together (best value for money)
