I do, and I do.

20km each way, 5 days a week.

If I want some extra km's then the long way I take is 70km to work, and then the typical 20km home.

I think I have the shortest commute, but only when my wife lets me ride from the bedroom to the back room ... She hates the skid marks I leave on the tiles in the kitchen! ;)

Shortest route is about 8km each way. Longest and most scenic is about 30km each way, or a mixture. The long way is very scenic along the bike track from Bulli to Coniston. I get my best sunrise pics along there.

Another Wollongong rider! Ye gods, I'm not the only one on here!

My run is from Balgownie to Unanderra, just near the Nan Tien Temple. Don't know what time you head out, but I might see you out there!

McPete. I travel from Keiraville, up behind Glennifer Brae. I used to travel down the Princes Hwy to Northcliff Dve and out to MM on the way to CRM. I have been thinking about going that way again to vary the scenery a bit. I now work at Northgate at Bluescope.

My run is generally; Balgownie Road/Princes Highway/Elliot's Road/ Cycleway along to the North Going Surf Club/ Cliff Road/ Cycleway around the back of the Entertainment Centre/Springhill Road Cycleway/Bottom Lane of Five Islands Road heading west.

I have been trying a run around back of the of the TAFE, through the CBD/Conniston, which is nice at about 6:30AM, but I'm not game to try it at 4:30PM!

Did yer have far to come?

Postby MJP Wilson » Sun Feb 15, 2009 4:37 pm

My commute is either 20k or 24k each way from Queanbeyan to Lyneham. The shorter route has some areas of danger - no cycle lane, so I tend to do that route before the traffic builds up. The longer route follows marked lanes all the way and I sometimes pick up a mate along the way. Lots of roadworks going on in the ACT at the moment and when they are finished, I will have a couple of other routes to choose. I do the commute every day, rain, hail, sleet or snow.

80km round trip (or 79km to 80.2km depending on how the bike computer is feeling! )

I live in the Northern suburbs of Perth so you are nearly always guaranteed a tail wind for the homebound trip.

Unlike Graeme - I don't have a skid mark problem when I take the bike through the kitchen from the garage!

I am doing this on Tues and Thursday at the moment.

Cheers,

Gary

Yeah I seem to get an extra 3km/h on the way home to Joondalup...going in seems tougher. Maybe there is also more uphill going in?

Do you join the cycle path at Shenton Ave?

No, I travel from Mindarie so I head down Neerabup Rd, then Connolly Drive and pick up the freeway path at Burns Beach Rd.

That's the next one up isn't it? I might see you tomorrow, I'll be hitting Shenton at about 6:30am.

I might pass you heading the other way. Hoping to get a bit of a ride in too the north and back and round to the coast, then south and then back north again tomorrow.

7km each way (5.6km if I go over a big nasty hill but I've been avoiding it). It's good because I like to start at 8am and I don't have to get up very early.

I'm guessing that I hit Shenton at around that time. I leave Mindarie at just after 6am (depending on the kids) and it takes about 30 minutes to hit Bunnings nr Edgewater Station. If you see me then give me a shout - I have a red sleeveless top on and a Trek road bike.

Cheers,

Gary

According to google maps, 8.6k, but I don't take the most direct route - taking Cotham through Balwyn shopping strip during school pick-up time is a suicide run. Apparently BMW 4wds don't have mirrors or indicators! Takes between 25 and 35 minutes, depending on my enthusiasm for the task. There are two good sized hills, and one very scary downhill. The left shoulder of Cotham/Whitehorse leaves a lot to be desired, and down past Camberwell Grammar feels like it will shake my shonky hard-rubbish steed to bits!

Did I see you this morning about 6:45am fixing a puncture before Greenwood? Red top with black t-shirt underneath?

Hi Gary

Did I pass you? Where you wearing a white helmet, red sleeveless jersey and on a red bike? If it was you, you where about to blow off a girl on a hybrid going down a hill whilst I was climbing it.

Guilty as charged! Sounds like it was me!

Where was this Andrew? I always keep an eye out for you (I only recognise the green CA shirt though!)

I did stack it last night though and I'm off the road for tomorrow. Nothing major but I've got bruising down my left arm and side. I'll post the story later tonight now that I've had the p*ss taken out of me at work all day today!

Cheers,

Gary

Cool, now I know who/what to look for.

I was trying to remember the intersection to the north, when I did the post. It is where the path goes down and then back up again and then I think down to the railway station where there is that ped bridge straight on to the bike path. Does that make sense?

I was wearing a blue and white world peace shirt yesterday.

Could have been near Warwick Station as the ped bridge goes straight onto the path. Or maybe Greenwood?

I'll keep an eye out for you next time. Will be first week March now as I'm off on my travels on Saturday for a week and a bit!

Not me this time! No black t-shirt underneath for me in these temps!

I would have hit Greenwood at around that time though!

It would be Warwick as it was the west side of the freeway.

45 km each way, St Clair to North Ryde, M4-M7-M2. could shorten it to 38 km by taking the M4 and then main streets from Rosehill to North Ryde but there is to many lights, cars and traffic in general and it is slower than zooming an extra 6 km on the freeway. 8)

At peak hours it can take me longer to drive to work than to ride :!:

6km each way between Fairfield and Wetherill Park.

If you are in the area, I ride a blue bike with blue rear panniers, and a red rack-top back on the front plus a red rear frame bag.
