Commute Hacks

Postby bigfriendlyvegan » Tue Jul 28, 2009 9:42 pm

I commute in normal shoes (Dunlop Volleys) and jeans, which I roll up or tuck into my socks. I wear a hi-vis shirt as well. The right clothing improves my visibility during the day.

As you can see, the laces and the socks make a great and visible combination. The laces were the envy of the builders working at the uni.

Post your hacks. Share your ideas.

Picked up some orange and white, long sleeve, cotton shirts on sale from colorado last year - comfy and bright ;)

I also use a swing bag that folds up and fits in a pocket for my helmet, lights, etc when I'm off the bike. Very handy since they banned cheap plastic shopping bags in SA.

Currently commuting on a sweet Reynolds 531db frame with late 80's 105.
running as a 7 speed.a smidge under 10 kg as pictured.
I love this bike.
SPD shoes and a hi vis vest, with the work pants tucked into the sock.
take all my food for the week in on the day i use the car for kid pickup or o/time, so i can ride sans bag for the rest.

Like brauluver, my old road bike has become my commuting/general duties bike.
It is a bike that fits like a glove, and is too good to get rid of, so calling it a commuting bike is a great excusee to hang on to it.
