How to Use Bike Journal tutorial.
Postby hanzao » Tue Feb 02, 2010 2:14 am
It is preferred that you use the same username you have here.
Now once you have succefully registered login
Goto Clubs -> Manage my Clubs
Click on the drop down box and scroll to Australia Cycling Forums, then click on Join Club
Now you have to set your profile to public, to do this goto Riders -> Edit my profile
Now scroll all the way down until you get the part below
Distance Goal for 2010: (rough estimate that you want to do for the year, you can always change it later on)
Make sure the Keep my goals private is un-tick
Note: Previous Distance is blank so fill that in if you want (if you know what your Odo was at the start of the year)
After you have done all this goto 2010 ACF BIKE JOURNAL "Fit" Gits on Bikes Fun Comp and post a reply stating you would like to be added. If you have registered using a different name to your BNA profile please include your BJ username in the post.
Now the fun bit :S

Before we can add a Kms you need to configure the Add Ride columns.
Go to Journal -> Configure columns
The Default Column selections are Ride Date, Ride Type & Bike
You need to add 2 more columns Ride Description & Distance (miles)
Now your ready to add Kms to your total.
Click on Journal -> Add ride
Now fill in the details
Once that is done click on add ride
Now you should have your ride listed on the Journal now.
To check if the new Kms has been added to your total go to Riders -> View my profile
And it should have the new total.

First click on "User Control Panel"
Go to Profile -> Edit Signature
Type
Code: Select all

Now go to any of your past posts and you should have "Missing data ..." on the bottom
that is because Aushiker hasn't authorized you to join the Australia Cycling Forums yet and also you have to post your username at Philips webpage Also do a reply post at 2010 ACF BIKE JOURNAL "Fit" Gits on Bikes Fun Comp stating you would like to be added. If you have registered using a different name to your BNA profile please include your BJ username in the post.

I suggest going to http://whatsbeef.net/philip/bike/adduser.php and doing a step by step check. From what I have seen everyone saying it is not working have missed at least one step ...

That is a good idea for a double check:Aushiker wrote:I suggest going to http://whatsbeef.net/philip/bike/adduser.php and doing a step by step check. 1) You enter your username here exactly as it is in bikejournal. Case sensitive.
check
2) You are a member of the "Australian Cycling Forums" bikejournal club
Club: Australian Cycling Forums. Status: primary
check
3) You have a 2011 goal listed on bikejournal and your goal is public (you have to set it in your profile by unchecking the "Keep my goals private" checkbox)
Distance Goal for 2011: 6666 km, Keep my goals private is not checked
4) Your bikejournal username returns "Username already entered"
I updated my goal yesterday before lunch so it probably has had 2 goes at updating but I am still getting the error message "Missing data - 2011 goal not found"
I will give it overnight then report back tomorrow.

You are showing no outdoor rides record hence the script has nothing to pick-up and show. You need to record at least one ride I suspect so get out on Masi

The below could resolve peoples problems with the viewing. Select Public journal with external link.
Goto Journal -> Configure Journal.... let me know if they resolves your problems.
They are premium features and have nothing to do with the bar.

Sorry I am not involved anymore and haven't been for some time. Maybe someone else can help.Tornado wrote:Are the steps above still up to date? I've followed them so I can get started for 2014. I'm getting the missing data message. I'm hoping that once I get accepted to the Aus Cycling Forum and wait for the script to run, I'll be ok. Is this right @Aushiker ?

I can't recall who set this up and who maintains it, my search-fu appears to be quite weak tonight so I can't give credit where credit is due for this awesome sig setup.
Edit: I just clicked on the "fetch ride data" button in settings and it's reset my progress to the proper 2014 progress point now which is good.

kb setup a signature for me and I'm all sweet now. If you have a look at the second page of posts in the 2014 6000km thread he has offered to make signatures up for others. His sigs update most nights at about 11pm Eastern Australian Time approx. 8pm here in the West. If you contact him he may set one up for you too. If you want a sig like mine anyway. He is getting my data from my Strava page.
