I wonder if Campbell is going to be down to try and break the record?

I'm definitely signing up for this one, just as soon as they fix the registration links!!

What's the best training for this? Obviously a truck-load of hills, but where and how long?

I guess I better see what I can do on the roadie. I trialled it a few months ago on the MTB and did a pretty poor 1:50.

I think the best training is probably pretty easy: Mt Wellington, again and again and again :) Put in some good base miles for general fitness too if you like.

You gotta learn to love the climb. Then you can sing as you ride up on the day. Note to self: probably time for me to have another crack at riding up... when I don't feel so tired.

Is anyone else having trouble registering? I keep getting a message that the 2011 challenge entries are closed.
Emailing the contact person doesn't help either - no response.

It's true.

But you have to indicate that you will be there on facebook, so I guess you're going to miss out on the free money.

I just spoke to the organisers this morning.
The registration will be online mid next week.
They will be taking registration up to 3 days before the event.

I'm not sure what they were thinking, but now there is also this on the same day as the Wellington TT:
PMM Real Estate Cycle Challenge around Richmond and back to Hobart.
http://www.claremontrotary.org.au/Derwent/
I received an email the other day. I wonder if anyone looked at the cycling calendar?

To be honest, I'd rather do the Wellington. I like the 100km challenges, but I've been looking forward to Wellington since the last one.

Yep I agree with you Pete, would much rather do the WTT.

Now... time to put together a custom cassette. 12-27 without the 14 and a 30 above the 27 as a get out of trouble gear.

I managed to sign up today.
Just a note: not all the links to register will work. At least they didn't for me.

Also, if you choose the entry plus insurance option, the form will still insist on declaring which insurance agency you use. Just enter "none".

Now, if I can just get up that mountain more than once a month, I might be okay
I'm only aiming to get up it. I'm a bit old to be breaking records (41). The last time I did it, I managed 1:30-ish. Hoping for 1:20.

Well I wont be able to race, the crit season opens on the Saturday and I will be racing that, so I will do the PMM ride on the Sunday instead. Unfortunate that none of the multiple events on that day are coordinated together.
