Hi,
I am looking at riding the Tasmanian east coast later this year. Due to a couple of factors it works out better for me to ride the direction of Hobart to Launceston, however none of the ride reports I have read mention this direction, they are all from Launceston to Hobart.
So I'm wondering if there is any reason for this? Is there any negative to riding in the direction of Hobart to Launceston?
Thanks

I've done it in both directions - no problem either way.paulau wrote:Hi,

About the only difference is that you are a lane width distance closer to the coast if you go south.

And everyone knows its downhill if you go Launceston to Hobart but uphill if you go the other way.

Just don't forget to stop drinking Cascade as you pass Swansea and switch to Boags. Can't drink Cascade north of that unofficial border.

Bring money. We dont have much. Some GST from WA will be appreciated. You need to speak with benevolentdictatorD for advice on the ride. I cant see much difference between the options. BDD is much studied on riding around Tasmania.
