From previous posts I think I know the answer but it you don't ask.........
Any who, I'm heading to Tassie from Perth next Sept and was hoping to hire a bike (road or flat bar)in Launceston and drop it off in Hobart.
I'm wondering if the locals think there would be any chance. If there is, where would I go?

Gazman, I fear that you have two chances.......you know what they are .
Sorry to be so negative. I hope you can prove me incorrect.
Tasmania is a great place to ride; it would be a pity to miss out.
You might need to think outside the square on this one. Something like a gumtree or ebay purchase around Launceston, and we could help you sell it by the same method on or after your departure.
I guess you have discounted bringing your own bike?

I did think about bringing my bike however I am travelling with two other couples and thought that the opportunity of riding may prevent murder!!
The gumtree/ ebay idea is a great one. Thank you

When I toured Tassie a few years ago I met another tourist riding a bike he rented in Launceston. The bike was nothing special but when it broke the guy brought him another one in Hobart.gazman wrote:From previous posts I think I know the answer but it you don't ask.........

I not sure but I think he got the name from the Lonely Planet guide. It might have been this place. It would be worth contacting them.
