Great! I drive down the M2 on sat night and there was still an incomplete section of resurfacing over all lanes and the shoulder, plus no lines, so they have been busy the last two nights!Boognoss wrote:As of this morning the work is completely finished, lines painted and 80kph temporary speed restriction signs gone. Interesting to see how long until the M2 announce it with great fanfare that we should be grateful for. I don't much care. It's my commute route again now .
Will have to go give it a test run this week while I am still on holidays, and give the Garmin VIRB a trial.

What time was that? The main roadway has no more roadwork to be done now and before 7am there's never any workers at the Browns entry point that I've seen. Is it still a locked gate when the workers are not there do you know?shouldnobetter wrote:A workman stopped me this morning as I was about to go through the gate by the underpass at the end of Vimera Rd, onto the eastbound M2. He said that the signs are still up and there's still work to do, which we know, and that it will be a couple of weeks before the signs come down.
Good to know officially a couple of weeks since the M2 don't respond to email queries anymore in my experience.

"Small" detour to the Beecroft Rd on ramp would do the job for you for now .ed933 wrote:Rode there to check it out around 5pm yesterday and the gate onto the M2 was locked. Looked like the last worker had just started up his ute to head home.

Thank you for your feedback. The motorway carries out sweeping during the first week of the month and additional sweeping as required. We are reviewing this and more regular sweeping will be undertaken in the future.
I will follow up with our contractor regarding your experience and arrange for additional sweeping services.

Dear Mr Boognoss
Thank you for your enquiry. The eastbound cycle lane between Pennant Hills Road and Delhi Roads will be re-instated for use in March of 2015. The sections between Christie Road and Delhi Roads are still undergoing works and therefore have not been re-instated for use at this time. These works will also be completed in March of 2015.
Kind regards,
Pat Hobday

I haven't seen evidence of roadwork in the section described so maybe this is night works. At least it's officially coming back next month. I see more cyclists daily on my morning commute on the M2 "forbidden" section.

Let's see if they lift the 80 km/h speed limit on the other side of the tunnel. Once they do that, work is over, the legal basis of "no bikes" is finished and we *should* be able to ride.

No 80 signs as of this week - both mornings the shoulder has been totally clear, no roadwork signage and all line painting done. I'm going with your legal basis (and have been this year) .rogan wrote: Snip/

Good to know, seems they are still working but outside the morning peak. Still good for the early commuters in my recent experience. Also all clear this evening after 5pm eastbound as I was heading out westbound.SheikYerbouti wrote:At 1300 today the shoulder was closed between the tunnel and tollgates heading east, with lots of workmen, trucks blocking the whole shoulder, and 40kmh limits in place. Certainly not ready for bikes.

however, going past the construction site, i did see a staff member closing the gate at the bottom of the path. i'm not sure if any cyclists were able to access M2 from there, after that.

Is that the entrance for going eastbound if you come down Kissing Point Road from Bobbin head?

Yep, it used to be great, and will save me about 15 minutes on the mornings I do Bobbo then go into work. When it opens.Xplora wrote:If Browns Waterhole is the entrance just past the tunnel, it's definitely not ready for use. Very close though!

Once that missing link is added I might do the odd Galston Gorge/Bobbo commute. I could do it now but then would have to do the non-M2 detour route after all that climbing. Maybe that's just an excuse .rogan wrote:Yep, it used to be great, and will save me about 15 minutes on the mornings I do Bobbo then go into work.
