What would be the need for a 1x setup, apart from following the 1x trend.
'Cheapness' in the waning 1X fad.

Though I suspect on BVRT events it's so flat it'd be useless. I'm already looking at my 46/30 thinking it's not tall enough.

Get a GRX 48 outer ring for that extra flat speed !

Funnily enough my mechanic suggested getting some replacement chainrings if I saw some available because of the GRX stock issues.

Turned out a whole 48/31 crankset on special at $180 was about the same price anyway so I have one in the 'drawer of expensive things I probably didn't need at the time'.

I suspect the ALR5 is in for rebuild #3 in the near future. And mysteriously developing a 48/31 and Favero Assiomas at the same time.

At least I can put it back to stock to sell it and reuse all the expensive bits if necessary.

Well frame is packed and getting shipped today

The stem (too long) and BB (C-Bear ceramic) will get sold off as they are not useable for me with this frame.

I've got a 1300g Farsport wheelset on mine, 3T SuperGhaia bars, Hope carbon seatpost and a 130g Selle Italia saddle. Not much of the original ALR5 left at this point!

Still over 9kg mind you. Not the lightest starting point.

Stumbled across it on Farceberk marketplace. Seller is in Melb, and has been great.

Your budget is bigger than mine !!

Will be interesting to see where the Dark Matter ends up at. Frame is around the 1250g mark and my wheels are heavy and tyres big.

Budget is unlimited. As long as the bike basically looks the same!

'Frame swap' is a step too far.

Yours should be much lighter - I can't even find anywhere that states what an ALR5 frame and fork weighs but it's got to be over 2kg.

Yeah, unlikely.

Be interesting to compare the two though !
