Can anyone recommend a fitter in Sydney?

Steve Hogg is well known in Sydney.

Also has lots of useful information on his blog if you want to read up on his approach prior to arranging a visit.

Take this comment with a grain of salt. I read almost all of his website material and wasn't really prepared for what Steve does.

He has a few left of centre thoughts, but they only compliment what is a very sound knowledge of the fit process, and a very keen eye for detail. I would let a few "looney tunes" as some may interpret them, to sway u away from what would be one of the best fitters around...

My intention is to explain that Steve's free expertise is separate to his paid expertise. His comments about handlebar design or chainset wear are completely valid, but they are not the reason you pay to see Steve. I fully endorse and support his work, and have spent political capital on this forum doing so. I look forward to my upcoming visit. I think that will be the real test of his skills, because I have been using his fit for 18 months now, and I am a different rider to the one he fitted then. I have completely changed. Can he still make the magic happen? We will see.

Am I happy with the results? Yes. I've had many months of riding on the new fit with my road bike and the results are good. I'm comfortable on it for long distances and it did sort out the problems I was having. I'm also probably a lot faster now too as a result of the fit and a lot of riding with the new fit.

He has since done the fit for me on the TT bike and I'm very happy with that as well.

I saw Steve in Nov... I am very assymetrical (LLD 22mm), but very functional. Fit took nearly 6 hours. I was better post fit than before fit, but no where near 100%. He planted many seeds however, and most have born fruit with further experimentation & trial and error. I'll head back in a few months and get him to assess where I'm at then.., the plane ticket and hassle is well worth it, compared to the level of expertise available here in Adelaide...

There does seem to be a distinct lack of decent bike fitters in Adelaide, I've had multiple requests via email and phone in the last 18 months particularly from Adelaide based riders who can't find anyone good to help them out.

22mm is up there, I'll add to that and say that anyone with such a large assymetry will ALWAYS have some issues on the bike. It's nearly impossible to function with reasonable symmetry when your whole nervous system is geared to compensate around that assymetry. We can get you pretty good, and usually remove most of the pains, but generally those riders with 15mm or more LLD, or a large injury to one knee/hip/foot never quite ride with perfect symmetry. Our job is to reduce the assymetry to a level where there is as little pain as possible.
