No further additions or equipment to the work zone since yesterday.
I was tempted to get on at either Pennant Hills Rd or Beecroft Rd this morning however there appeared to be some barricades around the tunnel when I drove through on Monday.
Where you able to cycle the Pennant Hills to Delhi length without any obstacles?
Yes unless you count the barricades. There's a heap of room mostly to the left of them and occasionally to the right where there are portable electronic signs. Given the reduced speed limit it feels safer in the verboten sections than the full speed completed section between Windsor and Pennant Hills Rds.
My concern is how the equipment in the works section will be positioned when they kick into that work. It may prove stupid/impossible to continue past Beecroft Rd at that point.
I will put together video of it tonight if it processes and uploads fast enough. Stay tuned.

Nice ride home tonight. I set a new record for my ride from Nth Sydney to Dural...50min10sec, a good 20min quicker than a typical ride home, and this is on my slow bike!
There was a slight tailwind coming home so my avg speed on the M2 was 37.5km/h and I got home with an avg speed just under 30km/h! It would have been faster, but I had to stop at two of the off-ramps.

I'm loving the M2 outbound. It's awesome! So good to get home in 50 mins door to door (about 46 mins rolling this arvo).

Very cool! I'm heading out now so will go down Pennant Hills Rd and jump on the M2 there. Thanks for uploading the video!

Today not so good, in fact I won't go beyond Beecroft Rd again. The barriers are all gone, all lanes open. The works section is completely sectioned off and there's no shoulder. I had to carry the bike over the barricades. Fortunately there is no equipment in that are yet. Video coming shortly.

Here you go. Sadly, a few days eastbound was all we will get for another 2 years.

I rode the M2 for the first time ever this morning (only been riding for about 2 years). I went from Pennant Hills Rd West to Old Windsor Rd. Was a great run with fairly light traffic and no problems crossing at on/off ramps (only a couple and no cars in site when I crossed). I was not riding that hard and averaged 40kph on the M2 (average -0.5% grade). Just under 32kph for entire ride. I plan to do this regularly. Takes me a little longer as it is 80% further, but it is some easy kms without having to negotiate lights etc.

In presume so, unless the embankment works they need to do are under the bridge. The works site appears to be between the bridge and Browns Waterhole.

Can you access the M2 westbound from Lane Cove rd, or is it only from Delhi rd, as the first entry point ?

Looks like any on ramp is ok to me. I have only started from Delhi Rd though in case you encounter issues
.

i am too lazy to read all the posts so can someone confirm for me the following
1: you can ride on the M2 westbound all the way from delhi rd
2: you can ride eastbound but have to get off at Pennant Hills rd (or can you go further? don't want to have to jump barriers or go the wrong way up onramps)
thanks peeps

Lazy Leximack.
1) yes
2) yes (going up on ramps the wrong way required if you go further - Beecroft Rd on ramp at Epping being the only option)
Cheers, Simon

You can access M2 westbound from Lane Cove Rd.
I've been using it since Monday.

I just kept cycling around this barrier this morning - wee bit tight but enough room to squeeze past.

Wee bit too tight for me to go the roadway, but I decided to do it again this morning. Treating that section like a cyclocross-style obstacle
.
Still no equipment at this stage.

Long route in today, onto M2 at Windsor rd and off at Pennant Hills Rd. I then followed the official detour to time it at its worst (cx commuter with 20kg of panniers). Only added 10-13 mins to the usual with an extra 6km thrown in.
Home the short way on the M2 to PHills Rd.
The works zone still looked empty on my way out and according to a mate who went past on the bus this morning.
Tomorrow if I don't decide to ride the whole way last second I'll check out exiting at Beecroft Rd.
Nice to meet a couple of forumites again on the way out this arvo too.
Cheers, Simon

I drive in on Monday mornings, leave the car at work and cycle through the week until Friday afternoon. Drove down the M2 this morning from Pennant Hills RD and the worksite is unchanged since last week.
Will be cycling the entire length tomorrow.

I saw trucks and diggers at Browns Waterhole coming home today. It also appears they have setup a construction compound with more equipment in the Vimiera Rd Cul-de-sac and adjacent paddock (west side).
Not sure if the underpass is affected.
In my cruisy ride home, I also happened to observe the large number of gloves strewn over the road shoulder. Surely this is a mystery worth exploring. How does someone lose a glove on the M2? Mostly motorcycle type gloves, but also many odd work gloves.
Oh, and at the Pennant Hills Rd off-ramp, I found three golf balls. That is one wayward shot from the golf course on the other side of the M2. Anyone had a near miss with flying balls?

Enjoy it while it lasts people
theyre constantly Building, Developing, Building, Developing, Building, Developing, Building, Developing, Building, Developing, Building, Developing, Building, Developing, Building, Developing, Building, Developing, Building, Developing, Building, Developing,
McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, McManshion, .. in the Hills area.
so imo theyre going back-wards to the newly improved M2.
in the Scholfields & Box hill area, there is a new land that is estimated to build 20,000 Homes.
and Fox Creek at Kellyville the "largest homeworld in the southern hemisphere" will be eventually sold as real homes...(not 100% sure how many is in there but im too scared to find out)
Kellyville North is the new suburb ... and there is 25 ACRES sold to Developers by ZARZAR Development property.. (thats a whopping 101,171.41sq Metres).. thats estimated 200 homes.
and theres PLENTY more to name
with this sort of development, i dont think the rail network will do a significant amount.
=(

200 homes (AT) 4 people per home is only 800 people. That is not that much, maybe one street lined with houses.
How long before the Schofields (long abandoned) Airport gets reclaimed like happened to Hoxton Park a few years ago.

i dont have a problem with people living...
however, there are some nice rural looking lands in this area...
Kellyville north.. for e.g.... you go up Hezlett Road.. its all Acreage... 5 acre blocks.. and then all of a sudden MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION MC-MANSION <--- this is how the houses actually look like.... no spaces in between... no larger than approx 450 Sq meter blocks...
they dont build suburbs like they used to...
its cram as much into an area as possible...
and your right, people do have to live somewhere... but the infrastructure doesnt cater for it!!!
say these Kellyville North, Rouse Hill etc roads are DESIGNED, originally for the 5 acre blocks... Not designed for these HIGH DENSITY dwellings...
