US Gov Shutdown - Bike failure RECALL notices not being sent

As is tradition, any political comments in this forum are specifically cycling or bike related and I spotted the news that with the US Government shutdown, the regulatory body CPSC are not sending recall noticed. 20 from the usual 550 staff are working and Bicycle Retailer (US) reports that two important recall notices have not been sent.
The relationship with Australia is less direct - sometimes Australian available models are affects but there is never a formal Australian recall and a recall status may be ignored. Sometimes the recall is not applicable as local changes means that a bike or parts with the same model are not part of the affected batch.
This type of scenario would not occur in Australia but not the less, it is disturbing to know that critical information is not being shared.
