Hey Hey My My

Postby chriso_29er » Tue Feb 12, 2019 2:26 pm

Documented this awesome little trail loop for anyone thinking of heading out into the Yarra Valley.

Located in the hills behind Wesburn, east of Melbourne down the Warburton Hwy.
Hey Hey My My is a Mountainbike trail loop best described as an 'All Mountain' trail. But could also be riden on an XC bike taking consideration of some of the black lines. Blue intermediat lines exist also.

Image

The full loop is approximately 4.6km long and consists of a challenging climb of 2.5km at an average 6.2% gradient. The climb is technically challenging due to its off camber nature with numerous steep switchbacks and really gets the lungs working. Average climb will take around 25 - 35 minutes.

This is followed by a hair raising 1.6km descent at an average -9.3%, with very well designed features including drops, gap jumps, rock gardens, steep tight sections and flat out fast smooth sections. Parts of the trail fork off to either black diamond or blue options and has bypasses to all major features. Full descent likely takes around 5 - 10 minutes depending on skill level.

Hope you enjoy the video, get out there and enjoy the trail.

Hard to say, its a bit of an orphan at the moment with other trails in the area closed years ago.
But there are plans in place and approved funding for trail development closer to Mt Donna Buang/Warburton, which is not far from here.

cheers thanks for posting I do less and less mtb but my teen daughter is keen and fearless and with your info I'm prearmed on how long the uphill is!
On its own for us poss only just worth the drive from Melbourne which in fairness isn't much longer than a cafe stop, love Warburton area and hoping the planned developments come good

edit for road trips the vote usually falls on "like a hurricane"

Wouldn't be surprised if some of those trails are ex saw-mill tracks. Warbie and surrounds are dotted with them everywhere from the late 1800s to about the 60s.

I think there is an interesting local book with all the historical stuff in it at the information centre.
My family had owned a couple of places at Warburton in the early 70s to Mid 80s. Its an interesting place.
