Hi all - does anyone know if there are alternatives to riding the Black Spur Road - given I want to get back to Healesville from the north west ? There look to be lost of roads off to the sides but on street view they all seem to be gated - so am assuming they're forestry tracks / Melbourne Water.
I've not read good things about riding on the highway. Off road options would be nice!

From Narbethong take the Acheron Way C507 south to Cement Creek, then turn up the sealed road to Mt Donna Buang. 1 km short of the summit take the road C505 to Healesville.
There is about 13km easy gravel over the top of Acheron Gap and unsealed section on the Healesville road, but nothing too bad. It’s worth the ride.

2023 Target: 9.500kms/100,000m

Directionally confused? Black Spur is north-east of Healesville, not north-west. Coming in from north-west would be more Kinglake/Toolangi/Chum Creek.goanna wrote:Hi all - does anyone know if there are alternatives to riding the Black Spur Road - given I want to get back to Healesville from the north west ?
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.
