Even as child, the traditional western Christmas notions were not celebrated by every kid in class and their families, but the Christmas season was still a time or opportunity for reflection and family time.
We all have different stories and draw a different meaning from Christmas and have different live a family situations.
Sometime the Christmas lead-up is stressful and almost counter-productive when you consider the objectives of a slow and relaxed family celebration. This year the cycling community has also been shaken from tragic deaths of bike riders in December and the pain of family and friends will remain a shadow, I did a big charity cycle-tour with one of the riders and know others well acquainted with riders struck in Sydney.
Christmas is a time for reflection, but a time for joy when the kids unpack their presents and you can share a laugh with the family.
Whatever Christmas means to you, I hope that it is a time when the things that are important for you get your focus and time.
Bike riding is a positive part of our society so thanks to the regulars this year - the site and contributions add value - even when it is invisible and indirect. I look forward to 2020 and working towards the cultural shift and enjoying the freedom of cycling.
A special thanks to the dedicated moderators, a fine team of people who even keep me in check. Thank you.
Happy Christmas and have a good start into the new decade.
