Some old NSW club jerseys

Postby Johnj » Thu Jun 10, 2021 10:16 pm

I recently purchased a job lot of jerseys. I believe they're probably late 1950s and all appear to be from Sydney clubs, except for the last one. :D

Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club track jersey: spotted this one first.

St George Cycling Club (one of two)

Last one. Not sure if you can see, but this is a NSW representative jersey. I've never seen one of this period except in photos before.

The only readable makers labels say Holmac. All the road jerseys have front pockets as well as rear pockets. Anyone know when they went out of fashion?

I've been compiling lists of club colours, will post them shortly.

Edit: New image links due to Google Photos' stupid inability to link.

Here are 3 of my dad's jerseys. NSW is rep jersey, Black one is Ashfield and District Amateur Cycling Club (I think). Dad rode for Ashfield and among other things won 3 State Road Team Time Trial titles with them, and then of course St George, the club he was with in the later years.

I have a photo of a team from Ashfield with my dad and uncle in the 1930’s. But I’m unable to post the photo!

Late response; perusing the items from a couple of vintage jersey sellers based in Italy, jerseys from the 60's tend to have front pockets, where jerseys from the 70's don't.

My home-brew DHBC jersey (red jersey with iron-on patches) was bought from Evilbay France I think. It was bought with a front pocket already attached, 1960s I guess.

From left, Imwit in Kraftwerk jersey, Pin2O in DIY Pinarello jersey and me in the DHBC jersey with front pockets.
