How do the Audax events work, do you have to be a member?
Edit: looks like at a minimum you'd have to purchase a one month membership, which is $15 as far as I can tell.

Yes, something like that, overall relatively inexpensive.P!N20 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 2:36 pmImwit wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 12:06 amThen Sunday 21st April Beechworth Strade Audace. 80 and 125km courses run by Audax and inspired by L’eroica.

I do on average one Audax sponsored ride per year, there’s usually a small fee per event as well, usually only 5 or 6 dollars per event.
Heaps cheaper than signing up for most of the charity/ fun events, most of which are over 100 dollars, sometimes over 200 dollars.

There was a FB Marketplace post about it with "more details to follow". Good enough for me to organise around.

Now I'm retired and (theoretically) have time to go to all these interstate events it would be good to know about them in advance.
Even inside NSW.. since when did the Heffron Park retro event change to its current date in Autumn?
Obviously, I'm just not in with the Cool Crowd...

That was a bit odd. There was nothing announced around the time it would normally happen. But at least it's on, that's something.
The other regular-ish SCBS event looks like it is becoming increasingly difficult to get running as well. After it was shifted from Lidcombe to Homebush to occur at the end of the Spring Cycle, which in turn got cancelled, the SCBS reshuffle couldn't/didn't happen for last year. Now with Lidcombe possibly up in the air as a venue due to a potential exclusive use arrangement for the WMRLC, it may be a venue lost if the league club doesn't want feet on 'their ground'.

Barkmadley who organises the Abbotsford shindig was first surprised at date clash, then, I believe, considered or tried to (not sure which), combine the two but has now changed to 1 week later.
To clarify the Abbotsford swap meet is now 20th April.
This, again I think but am not sure, was done so as to provide support for Abbotsford Cycles who have for years provided the room (somewhat cramped) out back so if you are going to this one make sure you grab some things from the store too, even if it's a few tubes or whatever. Full disclosure there is nothing in it for me re the retail store it’s merely a case of the store has helped us vintage collector tragics for years so why not pay it back.

Many thanks for publicising the Strade Audace, much appreciated. Please note we have changed the date to Saturday April 27 due to a clash with the Beechworth Granite Classic.

I’d love to take my Carnegie built Rolfe along but won’t make it this year.
Booked in to try and win the Rutherglen raffle next weekend though

York Heritage Festival Apr 25th to Apr 28. Saturday 27th is the main event day. We have a talk (or two?) happening in the Town Hall, and a number of vintage bike rides down the main drag. I believe our Penny Farthing owners will be out in force!
The following Sunday (May 5th) see us out at Toodyay for the Moondyne Festival, a very busy local institution.
