New Cannondale road bike spotted under Lachlan Morton on his 14,200km lap of Australia - BikeRadar
Lachlan Morton is riding a new Cannondale road bike for his 14,200km lap of Australia.

The bike has many similarities to Cannondale’s race-orientated SuperSix, with the front triangle sharing an almost identical aero silhouette except for a slightly deeper-seated head tube.

Never mind the bike, what about the fairly low depth wheels. :o

I see he's using the POC Procen helmet as well, quite a strange one but apparently very aero.

They look to be Vision 45sl wheels. 45mm depth.

A bit more info here

At the time of writing he is averaging over 36 kmh.
Deeper wheels and aerobars would no doubt be helping. Obviously aware aero is more important than weight. Not that it would be a heavy bike.
You could put lighter, lower profile wheels on but they will be slower. Presumably confident of handling any wind with those wheels, even on aerobars and he is not a big heavy fellow.

To me, they are the perfect sized rims for what he is attempting/doing. The winds can be very savage at different spots along the coast line and even inland areas can have very gusty winds this time of the year.

That top tube angle definitely looks more Synapse than Supersix
