Sunscreens in Aus that don't sting when rain or sweat carries it into your eyes?

Postby mjbmikeb2 » Mon Oct 14, 2024 8:01 pm

Today I used "Banana Boat daily protect SPF50+", got caught in a rain shower and my eyes were really hurting. I kept going but it wan't fun.
Are there any that are more friendly than others?

Not cycling specific, however, when I worked on a trout farm for 6.5 years the location was humid enough and the 70 ponds and channels of water everywhere made it even more humid leading to a very sweaty work environment. I resorted to zinc cream as I found it far less suseptible to sweating off and good for the constant splashes and squirts of working on a trout farm.

Yep, was going to say exactly the same thing as open roader. Good old fashion zinc cream for the win.

I'll still use other creams like Banana Boat or whatever to cover lager areas like the neck and arms, but zinc cream is the only one that I will put on my face.

I haven't found a good one, I now don't sunscreen above my eyes and also wear a sweat band on my of my rides. I have found the sweat band to be game changer in preventing stinging.

I have never put sunscreen above my eyes on the bike. I wear a cycling cap on backwards under the helmet. The peak of the cap protects my neck. Rim of the helmet and cycling glasses any skin above the eyes.
Aldi 50+ sensitive works well for the exposed skin

My eyes burn from sweat, with or without sunscreen but I haven't noticed any of the brands being better or worse than each other. :|

Your helmet provides sun protection for your forehead. No need to apply sun screen there.

Vaseline on the eyebrows can help with this.
