Briztoon V's Truck!!!!
Postby briztoon » Tue Aug 13, 2013 3:34 pm
Yesterday at around 2:30pm the 12th of August Briztoon verses truck occurred,
Riding his brand new bike on his way to the valley he got as far as the morning side train station, when a semi trailer decided to attempt to over take him to merge into the right lane cutting across his bike lane. He heard the truck coming up behind him and knew from that moment things weren't going to end well. The turning semi trailer side swiped him send him flying off his bike on to the grass and then on to the hard cement, Leaving him with a broken collar bone and every rib on his right hand side broken more then once, bruises and deep cuts and gravel rashes cover is body from neck to shins he is currently in the PA hospital in ICU (intensive care unit) for a few days then will hopefully move to trauma ward to recover, he will be in hospital for many weeks and will be unable to ride exercise or work for many months.

Hi Briz'niece.
Thanks so much for taking the time to let us know about this, please let us know if there's anything that we can do to help out.
I hope Briz heals quickly and well and is back out there as soon as possible.
I will save my thoughts on the driver concerned for a different place.
Regards
Shaun

Thank you for informing us.
I always wonder how people on forums would be notified if I had a serious injury...

Wouldn't be surprised if the truck just kept going. I personally know of two incidents that the truck just kept going and made the claim (in one case that was reported) that he didn't realize he'd side swiped a car.

As soon as he moves out of icu into a ward I'll bring up he's laptop as with the countless hours in hospital ahead of him I'm sure he'll need some distractions to read on the forum. no matter how you travel on the road - bike, car or walk stay Safe

Thanks for letting us know. Give home a peck on the cheek from me. I'm male, 41, married, and I have a beard, so I'll leave the actual smooch translation to you.

2nd Womble, will be in contact.
Thankyou everyone for your thoughts.
The nurses say cyclists always impress them the most as they get in and do the recovery exercises early and are self motivated to get back on their bike. It helps that my (male) nurse is also a cyclist.
