Anyone use Electric uni cycle/wheel?

Postby myforwik » Mon Aug 03, 2015 3:31 pm

Has anyone here got a SoloWheel or a NineBot One?

The are electronic uni cycles where you stand up. Looks like you can get a decent one for $1,000.

For some reason I don't understand yet, they have to have much higher power than ebike motors, even though they typically only reach 10km/hr top speed.

They probably need the extra power for acceleration to maintain stability in less-than-optimal circumstances. Anyway, they are not street-legal - so be aware they can't normally be used on roads or paths. Only on private property. Basically the same as Segway AFAIK.

That said, they do look like a lot of fun :) I think they would be enjoyable to try... Reminds me of the wheels used by Thor in the BC comic series.

You could probably pick up one of these for cheap:

Every time I picture myself using one of these, the term "power assisted faceplant" comes to mind...
