Cycling shorts

Postby Edward C. » Tue May 12, 2020 10:15 am

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some cycling shorts, are there some good recommendations you have for me? I know there is a brand call Peral Izumi and their price points are acceptable but not sure about the quality. Have anyone used this brand? My ideal budget is under $100. Thanks.

I wear Pearl Izumi "Attack" shorts.
Good padding, well made but the lycra starts disintegrating on me at about 18 months of use.
Still, not bad value, and it might have been that I was buying very old stock on special.
2 more unwrapped pairs in the stash then time for a change.
The lower range "Escape" shorts are thinly padded (about 4mm) and probably only suitable for shorter rides.

Anaconda have a 60% off sale on all Fluid-brand cycle clothing until 8 June.

I tried on size M lycra shorts - and could not get them past my knees. I tried on size M bib-shorts, and they fit very well.
Shorts were $70, Bibs were $80; I paid $32. But the cashier did not believe that Anaconda ever had anything less than 50% off, so had to ask an absent colleague to photograph the signage - on the other side of the warehouse-type shop. This took forever. Jamisontown, in western Sydney.

We're talking lycra shorts, right? Firstly, I recommend getting bib knicks over shorts, unless you like riding around with your coin slot on show.

I find DHB knicks good bang for buck. I got a pair when I first ventured into the world of lycra...still got them, still going strong. Sure, I don't wear them every day, but I've done plenty of long rides in them without any problems.

Thanks mate.
Just dropped into my local. Size M bibs too. 184cm 73kg.
Marked at 79.99.
Checkout person tried to charge 39.99
I said it was marked 60% off.
Got em for 29.99 :o :)
Cheapest bibs I've ever bought by a long way. Chamois seems ok. Find out when I ride em I guess.

Did a 2hr 30 ride in them yesty.
Chamois was ok for that length of time.
Not the best for long duration rides however.
The legs are a bit short too.
Prob a commuting or short duration ride set of bibs.
Prob wouldn't get another set as the short leg length annoys me a bit.
